On April 19, 2010, The Streator Voice filed a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's Office, alleging that the Streator High School Board had on two occasions violated the Illinois Open Meetings Act by discussing in closed session matters that the law requires be discussed openly. On January 31, 2011, the Attorney General's Office ruled in favor of the Voice and directed the board to make available the audio recordings of the two meetings. The Voice subsequently filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the recordings, which the board then supplied.
The recordings have been converted to MP files and may be downloaded using the links below. There are blank spots in each recording; these sections were redacted by the board, in accordance with the Attorney General Office's opinion that certain matters discussed in the executive sessions could be withheld from the public.
